- Q: What is telemedicine?
A: In brief, telemedicine is a fast growing application of clinical medicine where medical information is
transferred via telephone, the Internet or electronic communication or networks for the purpose of consulting,
and even for remote medical procedures or examinations.
Telemedicine can be health professionals discussing a case over the phone, or using satellite technology and video-conferencing equipment
to conduct a real-time consultation between medical specialists in different locations or even different countries. It is the use of
electronic/digital communications and IT for the delivery of clinical care.
It is healthcare at a distance. Telemedicine often refers to the provision of clinical services while telehealth can refer to clinical
and non-clinical services such as medical education, administration, and research. e-Health and telehealth are also often used.
Telemedicine is practiced on the basis of real time (synchronous) and store-and-forward (asynchronous). Real time telemedicine may be
as simple as a telephone call or as complex as local or remote robotic surgery. Store-and-forward telemedicine involves acquiring
medical data such as medical images or biosignals and transmitting the data to a doctor specialist at a convenient time for later
assessment or diagnosis. Telemedicine is especially important for people living in isolated, rural communities and remote regions but
it is currently growing in virtually all medical areas. Telemedicine is often a communication tool between a general practitioner and a
specialist.

A: HDHP in our name stands for HIPAA Dicom HL7 and PACS
- Q: Does a doctor have to be in a telemedical facility?
A: Many states in the U.S. have no specific laws concerning Telemedicine, while other states do. In the case where
there are no specific laws concerning telemedicine, the existing law is likely to be applicable regarding
the dispensing of medical advice, medications and treatments. It is advisable to know the laws that govern
in your location. Consider all of the uses and definitions of telemedicine and it will become obvious that some
uses of telemedicine don't require the presence of a medical doctor while others do.
- Q: What is the symbolism in your logo?
A: This is an original logo design that we created from some very old and ancient concepts that perhaps we are just beginning
to understand in today's modern and nuclear medicine and healthcare. The figure of the man is Leonardo Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man (1492) —
the same year that Columbus discovered America. Da Vinci designed this figure in a circle and a square to express admiration for the
works of the 27th century BC Roman architect, Vitruvius, who created De architectura. Vitruvian covers subjects, which he saw as relating
to architecture. This included many aspects, which range from medicine to mathematics, to astronomy, and to meteorology. In the Roman
belief, architecture needed to take into account everything touching on the physical and intellectual life of man and his surroundings.
Vitruvius also studied human proportions and his observations were captured in this drawing by Leonardo da Vinci – “Homo Vitruvianus”
or “Vitruvian Man”. Da Vinci refined these theories of proportions and perfect shapes of the circle and the square.
The background of our logo is the Yin and the Yang — the antitheses or mutual correlations, combining to create a unity of opposites,
or two mutually correlated
opposites. The concept of yin and yang, two primal opposing but complementary principles or cosmic forces is thought to be found in
all non-static objects and processes
in the universe. This paradox is the foundation of most branches of Chinese philosophy, as well as traditional Chinese medicine. This
medical theory asserts that processes
of the human body are interrelated and in constant interaction with the environment. Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners believe
signs of disharmony help them to
understand, treat and prevent illness and disease.
If you understand the concept of Yin Yang; and you understand why Da Vinci honored 27th century BC Roman architect, Vitruvius with the
concept of Vitruvian Man, you understand the basic implications of GTR’s logo. Some people also have a concept of the heuristic mysteries
of the square, the triangle, the circle and the straight lines that can also be found in our logo. These symbols are seemingly set in an
enlightened space where GTR’s modern, hairless Virtruvian Man stands for the letter “T” in GTR; and he has apparently bent and ripped the
Yin from the Yang. While, each person can find his or her own meaning in our logo… or not… our slogan is:
What minds at GTR can conceive and believe, we can achieve; and we believe that we are challenging the dominant paradigm by altering material,
space, and time. ©
